WEB EXCLUSIVE: If you are a baseball fan but cannot wait for the excitement of post-season play, then you are in luck, because the Pecos League playoffs begin this week. You even have a New Mexico root for.

The Roswell Invaders, named for those little green men that made the city famous, will be playing the Garden City Wind in the Mountain Division Semi-Final Series on August 3rd, 4th & 5th in Garden City, Kansas. The Invaders have three league championships under their belt already, including one in their inaugural 2011 season. It is little wonder they have such a strong following in their region.

The Pecos League got its start in 2011 as well and describes itself as a league "of rising stars, falling stars, shooting stars and athletes with stars in their eyes." The 16 teams stretch from Far West Texas and Western Kansas to the California coast. It might also be the highest elevation baseball league in the world, with an average stadium elevation of 4870ft. They have teams in Santa Fe and Trinidad, Colorado as well. While the Santa Fe Fuego did not make the playoffs, the Trinidad Triggers, who were the subject of a 2014 docu-series, will be playing the Alpine, Cowboys in Alpine, Texas for a shot at the pennant as well.

It is a mighty long drive to either Garden City or Alpine from the Enchanted Circle, so all games will be available to stream through Meridix, a new streaming service for minor league and amateur sports. Check the league website, www.pecosleague.com, for schedule and links to streams.
